 Going here tomorrow...

Fingers crossed for good weather, many hours of writing on the balcony looking at that view, ice cream, hot chocolate with marshmallows, spectacular hikes, no blisters, lemon sorbet, potato rosti, salami, Emmental cheese and cows with bells on.

Back in two weeks!

Sweet!

It looks so much nicer without all the clouds that covered everything when we went there in Oct 1993. The only time we saw mountains was when we took a little twisty road above the clouds.

Good luck, stay safe, and share the driving!

We're hoping for some decent days of weather, you have to go for two weeks really to try and better your odds because it can be unpredictable in this valley.

Driving?! Oh we won't be driving. We're spending the hol in one place so trains, cable cars, buses and shanks' pony are the way forward ;-)

Even better without the driving. A dear friend of mine loaned me her copy of "The White Spider", written by Heinrich Harrer, one of the first guys who successfully climbed the North Face of the Eiger. You have to be a climber at the top of the game, AND be lucky, to climb that face and survive. The book is really compelling, and it was a shock when I read about Harrer's POW experience during WWII (he was Austrian).
Well worth the read, if you can find a copy.
