Okay, so I'm a day early but we're celebrating on Xmas Eve this year due to 60 hours of shifts starting at 6am tomorrow. Hope everyone has a safe, happy and chocolate-filled festive season.

Still bloody cold over this side of the pond - we might reach the dizzy heights of -5c today if we're lucky - which means we get a white xmas for the second year running. Went out for a walk this morning, trying to burn off the French toast we'd had for breakfast and earn the chicken we're cooking for tea, but none of the pics I took were as lovely as this one of the Peak District taken from the outskirts of Lyme Park. It might be winter, but it's certainly not bleak here.

Merry Christmas to you and yours! I woke up to much snow here as well, and it's still going! I hope you have a lovely day! (I should follow your example and take a brisk walk, we have much too much food here!)

Did you manage the walk!? I actually walked and then went for a jog as well and then sat and stuffed my face for the rest of the day. Our snow is turning to ice now, it's sleeting and warmer here (well, when I say "warmer" I mean 1c which is a definite improvement!) today. Hope you had a good time.

And all the best to you and yours :-) Love the tree! All it needs is two naughty kittens scattering pine needles all around the room and it'd be exactly like our lounge!

I ended up going for a VERY brisk jog, as it was very cold, but very worth it, haha. I also went back home and ate way too muvh. gotta love the holidays.

Merry Christmas, belated

Nice photo!

I hope your shift isn't too insane. Chocolate is being consumed in your honor. No exercise for us until the wind dies down.

We've finally received our 1 foot allotment of snow, along with wind gusts to something like 40+ MPH (which make the skylights moan). Much of it blew back in my face this morning whilst clearing the driveway with a 30 year old, 5 HP, 2-stage Simplicity. She's an antique, but I keep her going :-)
Wind chill temp is about 1 Deg F. Thankfully, we still have electricity and heat.

Merry belated Christmas to you! More like early happy new year really. Shift was... well, it's over, which is the best thing I can say about it (and the four that followed) really. Our snow melted and now it's grey and damp and miserable but at least our pipes defrosted and our sink and bath are now draining. I am always grateful for small mercies :-)

Small mercies... a little Vermont trick to keep things flowing, is to let the water trickle when pipe freezing is immanent. Even 50 F groundwater will provide enough warmth to keep things from freezing/bursting, with a little flow. If you forget, there's always the hair-dryer or (extreme caution) propane torch! Trickling is definitely safer though.
