I liked a little glimpse at what might have been if one element had been changed. All the disaster and pain served the purpose of getting them to safehouse and a moment of respite.

I liked these lines and Anna's reaction. she understood that Sarah wasn't being unecessarily dramatic.
[i]“You in any pain?”
She shook her head. “I’m guessing your uncle also doped me at the same time he set that going?”[/i]
For some reason I found that oddly touching. Maybe because sarah doesn't refer to Derek as John's unv=cle very often. It's like after all Derek did for her she finally gave him the right to the title.
[i]“You’re still on pain meds.” He sounded quite smug.
“So are you.”
“Yeah, but I’m not taking mine.”[/i]
I loved this whole last section but especially this part- a perfect example of their own gentle, twisted humor.
