LOL. Hell, I just love the fact that you even gave the original a chance! The AMC version just didn't have a hope with me but I did think it was pretty poor even stepping outside of the comparison issue. I guess if it was original it might be considered all ground-breaky and stuff - slow moving, focus on the grieving family etc, but I still found it horribly emotionally overwrought. It just couldn't help tweaking those heartstrings a little too hard. Something that stood out was the typically cute American kiddies (Rosie's brothers) running in shouting for Rosie: oh the heartache! She's missing! She's dead! They don't know it! Compare to the Danish version: kids run in shouting about their new toys, show mum, run off to look for Nanna but only because she's supposed to be taking them swimming. It's only then that they wonder where she is. The scene worked beautifully this way, it didn't need the extra emphasis to be poignant, but the AMC version just can't help itself.
However, I absolutely hate, hate, HATE the dude who plays the cop taking over Linden's position.
I have no idea what they decided to do with him. He's unbearable at the moment. Danish Meyer wasn't horrible, admittedly he was kind of gungho but mostly he was just put upon! The relationship he developed with Sarah was one of the real highlights of the series. AMC will have to do some serious damage limitation if their guy is even going to turn out likeable let alone one of the best things in the series.
So the search goes on.
Aww, I wish you well. If I see any links mentioned I'll send them on to you.
PS - can I pinch your icon?! I'm crap at making them and yours is lovely ;-)
