Snowbound release update!

Apparently, this is quite a sneaky little book that I've written. Sneaky as in, released kinda sooner than I'd expected! So, for anyone who might be interested in picking up a copy of Snowbound:

Bold Strokes Books now have it in stock (e-books here). They also have the first ten pages or so up as a preview so you can see what you're letting yourself in for.

Amazon have upped their release date to... well, now! Although they're saying it might take an extra couple of days to process (this one was a surprise because they had it listed as 20 December originally, so thankslaurel_hardy for the heads up!)

I really hope that anyone who does buy it, enjoys it. It's been a fabulous year getting it to this point and I can't tell you how much I appreciate all the people on here who've been such good cheerleaders. A big thank you to one and all :-)

Oh I'm all excited and then half-crazed with nerves at the same time. I think BSB have a degree of exclusivity on the ebook at the moment but this month's paperbacks have definitely hit amazon sooner than BSB expected (or would probably have liked!) It seems to be doing okay on there. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that people like it (thanks for pimping it to your friend!)

As for Val. Your secret is safe with me ;-)

Well, I did it. I ditched Val and read Snowbound! Loved it! Girl, you can really bring the realism to the all the medical happenings - and I mean that as a total compliment! You also have a great way of explaining the medical jargon without making it obvious or taking the reader out of the story.

I really liked the pacing of the romance aspect too. And I loved the two leading ladies! Might we hear from them again in the future?

I had to snicker when I would come across one of your food references. But I especially wanted to thank you for giving us an advance preview of some of the countryside where the book was set. That really helped in visualizing those scenes. (And made me want to visit!)

Bottom line - I really enjoyed the book and look forward to your next one!

\o/ I've been waiting with baited breath for your verdict. I felt responsible, for luring you in with fic *g* Actually, I did! I was very nervous as to what you'd make of a totally original story, so to say I'm relieved that you enjoyed it would be a definite understatement.

I started writing Snowbound about four years ago and it really was just intended to be for, and read by, my better half. I wrote what I know, without thinking of a wider audience, hence the medical bias to the story. When we got an inkling that it might be okay to send off to a publisher, I went back through and had a good, long look at it and tried to tone down some of the detail, and make sure it wasn't too overwhelming. There's still a lot in there but I'm glad to hear that it's not too incomprehensible.

I know I'm completely biased but I love Kate and Sam. I wrote four (I think it was four!) totally new scenes for them after hearing from my editor and going back and writing the characters again was just a joy (also ended up with more food being added!) and one of the reasons I didn't find the editing too traumatic. It was as much about developing stuff as taking stuff out. I don't think there'll be a sequel (you're not the first to have asked!) I'm not sure I could realistically put them into another adventure, but I'm not one to ever say never!

Glad the Peak District photos helped out. I didn't want people to think mountains when really, they're ancient hills. They are beautiful though, bleak and moody as hell but beautiful.

Next story is at 60,000 words. I have no idea if it'll be picked up by BSB but if it doesn't then I'm sure it'll sneak online somewhere, I'm not bloody wasting it! I'll let you know what happens to it when I'm done.

Sorry, being distracted by my cat chasing a chilli around the kitchen *g*

My bottom line - I really appreciate you reading and writing and showing such an interest in the last few months. You've been a star :-)

You DID lure me in with your fic! And I am so glad you did. I was really thrilled to hear that you had written a full length novel. The idea of writing a novel is what got me dabbling in fan fiction to begin with. (Well, that, and the fact that I was convinced that Alex and Olivia of SVU fame were totally doing it!) But I seem to be destined to write little short things - it seems I have the attention span of a gnat when it comes to writing long ones. And I've yet to venture into original character territory, but I hope to some day. So, 'meeting' someone who has made the transition from fic to novel is really very cool for me. OK, I'll stop fangirling now. ;-)

I'm rather close to the medical field myself, so I really enjoy the realism with which you write those scenes. I'm glad you're not saying 'never' to a sequel. I mean, you know, a cop and a doctor seems to work in this genre, so I'm sure they could find some sort of trouble to get into in Book 2!

I think I did it the other way round. I started Snowbound and then it got put on the back burner while I wrote a couple of novels worth of Sarah Connor fic! Once that was out of my system I went back to Snowbound. For well over fours years now I've always had something on the go, either fan fic or original fic. It's been lovely. I enjoy writing either, fan fic - i.e that last little R&I one - is a nice breather because the characters are already established. You don't need to start explaining things from scratch because you can assume knowledge from the people you're writing for. Having said that, writing something that's all yours is really wonderful.

LOL @ fangirling. I've got a fan and I got pirated the other day! I really feel like I've made it as an author now *vbg*

I think Kate and Sam would be very inclined to spend their days sitting with their feet up in front of a fire after the trouble I got them into first time out. But I know what you mean about the cop/doc pairing. It is a classic ;-)
