I've been watching AMC's The Killing, not knowing it was a remake until like the third episode. But since I'm a French Canuck who's lived in the UK, I can easily spot an American show that isn't 'just' American. Yes, their rendition might be totally American for someone across the pond, but it's not totally, IMHO. There was enough of a European vibe and feel to it to make me wonder and look it up. Of course, being here in Oz, I have yet to find myself a copy of Forbrydelsen so I haven't seen it and can't comment beyond what I've said above, but I'll definitely be looking it up. And may very well start trashing the AMC's version, of course. ;)
